Case Study - An outdoor mindfulness app for the restless mind

Rewyld is a walking meditation platform built for people who cannot sit still. Short guided outdoor practices, generated fresh for your place and the moment you press play, with a certified guide network and apps on iOS and Android. Success is measured by time spent off-screen.

Overview

When do you feel most alive? Screens everywhere. Endless tasks. Constant thinking. Modern life keeps us in our heads. Rewyld was built for the moment you remember there is another way.

Step outside. Press play. Walk for about five minutes with a guide in your ear. Then put the phone away. No streak counters. No gamified breathing. No push notifications pulling you back. The app measures its own success by the minutes you spend not using it, a philosophy that shapes every design decision we made.

What makes a practice feel like it was made for this walk is that it was. Rather than serving canned audio, Rewyld writes each practice the moment you begin, grounded in where you are standing, the weather, the season, and what is actually happening on the land around you. A voice layer turns that script into warm, natural audio. The result is a guided walk that knows it is November, that knows it is raining, that knows you are near water, without ever pretending to know what you are feeling.

The practices are rooted in three principles: awareness through relationship (not isolation, you meet this oak, this stone, this November morning), embodiment (cold air on skin, rough bark under hands, ground beneath feet), and the conviction that modern people carry ancient knowing in their bodies. You cannot think your way into presence. You feel your way in. Daily journeys give the practice a spine, a sequence you can follow over days, while the guide network connects certified practitioners from Kripalu, outdoor training programs, and partner organizations to the people who want to walk with them.

We built the full ecosystem from strategy through launch: a Next.js web platform, a React Native app for iOS and Android, a Node and Postgres backend, Claude for generating each practice, a voice layer for audio, location-aware mapping, and a place-truth service so every practice speaks honestly about the real world. The architecture mirrors the philosophy: lightweight, responsive to place, and built to step aside.

Ground truth for AI agents acting in the physical world

Pointmoon is ground truth for AI agents acting in the physical world. It gives a model a sourced, time-stamped read of the present moment (weather, season, water, land, sky) or an honest silence when the truth will not hold. It does not write sentences. Voice belongs to the model.
